I worked for Canonical, Deutsche Telekom and from 2018 until end of 2022 held the position of Chief Technology Officer at the Government in the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, where I've focused on integrating technological advancements into wider government strategies, particularly in digital identity, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies.
I defined the digital transition measures in the Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan — a comprehensive national program aimed at fostering economic recovery and promoting long-term resilience in response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. I directed also the development of the Digital Covid Certificate — a project that transcended technology to become a critical policy tool during a global health crisis.
Today I work for the European Commission, where I am at the forefront of policy development for technology of trust services, and the European Digital Identity Wallet, viewing these innovations not just as technological milestones but as catalysts for policy and societal advancement.

Growing up, I was immersed in a world of electronic wonders, thanks to my parents. Among these gadgets, the oscilloscope captivated me initially, but it soon took a backseat when the first computers entered my life: a Macintosh Classic II and a self-assembled PC with an 8086 processor. The sleek and elegant interface of the Classic II, however, paled in comparison to the enthralling Pascal lessons I learned from my mother on the 8086 assembled personal computer. The DOS console, with its stark black background and glowing green phosphor characters, held a mesmerizing allure for me, akin to the gravitational pull of a black hole, keeping me enthralled for hours on end.
As a teenager, the Bulletin Board System (BBS), the dawn of the Internet and the world of IRC chat opened up new horizons for me, erasing national borders and connecting me with the global open source community, linux enthusiasts, phreakers, hackers, cybersecurity experts and political activists. These were years of intense creativity, shared passions, and the exchange of knowledge. This period ignited in me an enduring quest and a deep-seated passion for exploring the realms of politics, security, and technology that continue till today.
